The St Landry Parish School Board is soliciting public comment and will accept recommendations on areas of consideration for the 2018 – 2019 Pupil Progression Plan. Please complete the form and submit by July 27, 2018. In addition, the district will host a Pupil Progression Plan meeting on July 24, 2018, to update the public and accept recommendations on areas of consideration for the 2018-2019 Pupil Progression Plan. The meeting will be held at the St. Landry Parish School Board’s Instructional Resource Center, 1013 East Creswell Lane Opelousas, LA from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. This meeting is being made available to provide information on changes that have occurred, answer questions, listen to comments and accept recommendations. The public is invited to attend.
Final board approval of the 2018 – 2019 St. Landry Parish Pupil Progression Plan is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, August 2, 2018.

District Placement Testing
As per Louisiana Department of Education and St. Landry Parish Pupil Progression Policy, students transferring into the St. Landry Parish School System from an unapproved public school, unapproved nonpublic school, or LDOE approved home schooling and are entering grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9 must be given a standardized placement test in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Students will be placed in the appropriate grade depending on the outcome of these tests based on grade equivalency. Students from an unapproved public school, unapproved nonpublic school, or LDOE approved home schooling and are entering grades 10, 11, and 12 shall take and pass locally developed exams for consideration of Carnegie units (credit). The number of credits earned will determine in what grade the student will be placed.
