OPELOUSAS, LA - The St. Landry Parish School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Beau Chene High School Principal, Mrs. Barbara Roberson. Mrs. Roberson has been the principal of Leonville Elementary since 2013. During her time at Leonville Elementary, she has shown remarkable leadership skills by leading her faculty and staff to be recognized as a Top Gains School in 2015. A year later, Mrs. Roberson was recognized as the 2016 district-wide Principal of the Year.
Mrs. Roberson began her teaching career in the Richland Parish School System at Delhi Elementary as a student teacher in 1990. Soon after, she began teaching English Language Arts and Science at the middle school level. In 1991, Mrs. Roberson became a St. Landry Parish School District teacher at Port Barre Elementary, where she taught through 1995 before moving to Port Barre High School. From 2000-2007, Mrs. Roberson became a Special Education Teacher; eventually becoming a department head, test coordinator, and administrative assistant from 2007-2009. In 2009, she became the Assistant Principal of Port Barre High School. She remained in this role through 2013. Since that time, she has served as principal of Leonville Elementary School.
Mrs. Roberson is committed to the continuation of rebuilding and reestablishing the tradition of excellence at Beau Chene High School. She looks forward to working with the staff and feeder communities that embody Beau Chene High School.
