BCHS BETA Club traveled to Baton Rouge to compete in the Louisiana State Senior BETA Convention.  The club was recognized as a National BETA School of Merit for the 2017-2018 school year.

The Lil’ Lady Canes Basketball team at North Central High School took a trip to their feeder school, Palmetto Elementary, to deliver treats for Valentine’s Day.

Washington Elementary held a CAREER DAY in which 25+ vendors and businesses participated.  The event was coordinated by the school's counselor Mr. Charles Johnson.  Four other schools in the district were invited and participated as well including, North Central, Northeast, Southwest, Grolee, and Palmetto.  Parents were invited and also participated in the event.

Lawtell Elementary kicked off their 4th-8th grade Saturday School Academy on Saturday, February to prepare for LEAP testing. Teachers were able to give test taking tips and strategies, as well as teach various skills in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. There will be five more Saturday sessions for the students to receive more test prep knowledge. Special thanks to Mrs. Felicia Dupre who is the Site Coordinator for the Just One Word, Inc. 21st Century Community Learning Center Program and Program Director Pastor Bonnie Riley.

Opelousas High School is proud to recognize the following young men who signed with colleges for their achievements both on and off the gridiron on National Signing Day. Mark Barthelemy signs to Tyler Jr. College in Tyler, Texas. Dyshun Sias and Kenneth Bergeron have signed with Louisiana College in Pineville, LA. Michael Arceneaux has signed with Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas. George Dominick plays for the CMP Academy Drillers in Lafayette. Decourian Fontenot is a preferred walk-on at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA. Lastly, recognizing Marlon Young who made an early commitment to Georgia State in Atlanta, Georgia.

Opelousas High School held their Academic Letterman's Ceremony on January 22, 2018. The students earn their jackets by maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout the school year. Tonights inductees are Payton Broussard, Jada Coleman, Bryan Flores, Natalie Hidalgo, Devonte' Johnson, Destiny Lewis, Morgan Ray, Claire Pitre, and Lydia Venable. Earning their bars for a second year of straight A work are Keenan Lamb and Bridget Melancon. Seniors Olivia Adams, Ahraf Swati, Aaron Jackson and Kassidy Stanford earned their bars for a third year of straight A's. Congratulations OHS Big Cats!

Caroline Vienne has been named the St. Landry Parish 8th grade Student of the Year.  Congratulations to Caroline on this prestigious honor!    Caroline competed against other 8th graders in the parish for this title and EJHS is extremely proud of her academic excellence as well as her extracurricular involvements.

Board Approves Make - Up Days

calendar update

As of February 1, 2018, SLPSB has approved the following updates to the school calendar due to 7 weather-related instructional days loss:
Wednesday, February 14 will be a full day of school.
Friday, March 16 will become a regular day ( was a professional development and parent-teacher conference day)
Friday and Monday, May 18 and 21 will become full days (previously half days)
High School Seniors last day will be Thursday, May 10, 2018.

SLPSD Bond Proposition Site

To the members of our community, stakeholders, and employees,
the St. Landry Parish School District (SLPSD) bond proposition site is intended to provide you with information relative to two proposed bonds for SLPSD. On March 24, 2018, the voters of St Landry Parish will authorize the district to issue a bond in an amount not to exceed $99 million dollars to fund our master plan for the future of SLPSD. In addition, the voters will also authorize the district to levy a property tax to supplement the salaries of all employees of SLPSD.
