St. Landry educators recently attended the ELA Content Leader Conference.  District teams from around the state are receiving training on a variety of ELA modules during these training events. Teams will redeliver these modules at the local level beginning in the spring.

Ms. Vidrine/Mrs. Jackson’s Pre-K class at Palmetto Elementary participated in a friends and pets group lesson by constructing a “Pet Party” floor puzzle.  The children learned that just like the puzzle pieces, they are all an important part of the class especially when working together.

Sunset Middle School students in Mrs. Jennifer Storey’s science classes were investigating if matter was conserved when it changes state. After measuring the mass of the solid(ice) and the mass of the liquid (water)they concluded the mass was indeed conserved when their results showed the same mass for both the solid and liquid.

Chief of Police Randy Fontenot visited Ava Grace Brown at Central Middle School.  Chief Fontenot met Ava at a school meeting, where she asked if he would come to Central Middle to speak with the children. After he met her, he saw her picture in the newspaper and decided to write her a letter to accompany a copy of the picture and deliver them to her personally at CMS.

The Eunice Career (ECTEC) ProStart Program received the 1st Place trophy in the Amateur Division of the Crawfish Etouffee Cook-off and 3rd Place in Showmanship (Booth Design). Students volunteered 2 hours of their day to come help “stir the pot” and had a good bit of fun learning how to cook for a crowd.

The Eunice Career (ECTEC) ProStart Program received the 1st Place trophy in the Amateur Division of the Crawfish Etouffee Cook-off and 3rd Place in Showmanship (Booth Design).
