SLPSD Bond Proposition Site

To the members of our community, stakeholders, and employees,
the St. Landry Parish School District (SLPSD) bond proposition site is intended to provide you with information relative to two proposed bonds for SLPSD. On March 24, 2018, the voters of St Landry Parish will authorize the district to issue a bond in an amount not to exceed $99 million dollars to fund our master plan for the future of SLPSD. In addition, the voters will also authorize the district to levy a property tax to supplement the salaries of all employees of SLPSD.

The Students of the Year Awards Program is sponsored by the State Superintendent through the State Department of Education and the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. This program is designed to recognize outstanding students who have demonstrated excellent academic achievement, leadership ability, and citizenship.

Magnet Art & Cultural Academy crafts ornaments to accompany the National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C.

OPELOUSAS, La. — Ornaments by a local Louisiana art-based public school will dazzle President’s Park (White House) in Washington, D.C. as part of the 95th annual National Christmas Tree Lighting display. Under the instruction of art teacher Kimberly Becnal Nelams, art students from Magnet Academy of Cultural Arts located in Opelousas, LA, designed ornaments that showcase the state. St. Landry Parish Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, December 8, 2017

After consulting with the Office of Emergency Preparedness and Homeland Security, the National Weather Service and out of an abundance of caution, St Landry Parish Schools will close all schools and offices Friday, December 8, 2017. The closures are a result of an increased chance of snow, sleet, or freezing rain and ice on bridges and overpasses that may cause travel difficulties, which would result in hazardous conditions for transportation.
